“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”

Being fairly new to Buddhism I haven’t quite learned enough to feel knowledgeable, but I have come across several websites that captured my attention or answered some of my weird questions. I decided to create a directory of them, both for myself and for others who are walking a similar path. If you have a website you’d like listed here please let me know.

Information & History:

Discontented

Today has been bittersweet.

I celebrated the victory of President-elect Barack Obama last night. I remained cautiously aware of how close the Prop 8 battle was. Today I am stunned over the final outcome. Throughout the day I have been checking, hoping for a different outcome to prevail, but I did not find it.

I know that we will continue to fight, and hope, and protest. There are more of us than ever before, and the difference between us and them is so close now that we’re nearly tied. As we continue to educate our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and everyone else, we will continue to gain understanding, acceptance, and equality.

Change is slow sometimes, but it IS inevitable. We must endure, we must press forward, and we will eventually overcome.

Marriage, Civil Union, Partnership Agreements...

Over and over I read things from the right-wing that really just bother me and seem to make no sense. Here’s what I came across today:

“Equality California and its allies are desperate to evade democracy. First, they used the courts to erase the votes of nearly 5 million Californians who voted to protect marriage. Now, they are trying to silence the people’s voice forever,” said ADF Senior Counsel Glen Lavy. “This is just another attempt to force a radical political agenda upon the people of California. The opponents of marriage are willing to use any means necessary to impose their will.” (source)
